Image File Requirements

  • Format: JPG in RGB color mode.
  • Size: Minimum 1200 x 1500 pixels.
  • File Size: Under 50MB.
  • Multiple Images: You can upload up to 5 additional images.

Why Additional Images Matter Collectors often request more images before purchasing. Show off your artwork’s best features by adding photos of it on a wall, close-up details, edges, and the back.

Lighting Tips

  • Color Balance: Avoid color distortion from room lighting or flash. Aim for natural-looking whites instead of unintended blues, yellows, or greys.
  • Avoid Harsh Shadows and Reflections: Use lighting that provides even color without creating distracting shadows or reflections.

Image Quality

  • Reduce Noise: Use a low ISO (100-200) and shoot in good light, like on a cloudy day, for less noise.
  • Focus: Check your images at 100% zoom to ensure they’re in sharp focus.
  • Post-Production: Adjust color, brightness, or contrast if needed, but avoid heavy editing that could misrepresent your artwork.
  • Avoid Upsampling: Increasing file size can reduce image quality.
  • Digital Signatures/Text: Keep digital watermarks subtle. They should not detract from the artwork’s value.

Composition

  • Angles: If tilting the artwork for a photo, keep the camera at a parallel angle.
  • Borders and Padding: Crop out unnecessary blank space and borders.
  • Proper Rotation: Ensure your artwork is correctly oriented when submitted.

Pricing your originals appropriately is critical for selling your work. As a selling artist, you should be able to explain your prices. Adopting consistent, fact-based pricing principles and methods is essential.

If you’re new to the market, here are some basic pricing principles and methods to consider:

Calculator: Click here to calculate the estimate price of your artwork.

Tip 1 – Be consistent: Ensure your pricing is consistent across all selling channels and within your portfolio.

Tip 2 – Offer various price points: Broaden your appeal by offering works at different price points, making your art accessible to a wider audience.

Tip 3 – Use comparables: Set prices similar to other artists with comparable experience and mediums. Consider factors such as dimensions, medium, and the artist’s achievements.

Use these tips to competitively price your art, gain exposure, and build a strong sales record.

Collectors tend to appreciate works more if they know the “story” behind them, so be sure to write informative artwork descriptions in simple English. Great descriptions not only provide useful information (e.g. physical texture, whether hanging hardware is included, quality of materials), but they also answer questions like:

  • What/who inspired the work?
  • What do you hope its viewers will feel/think?
  • Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style?

It should also include useful details such as:

  • What extra materials were used to create the work
  • What type of surface the was the work created on (i.e. describe its physical texture and level of delicacy)
  • Whether the artwork is framed or unframed, has finished or unfinished edges
  • Recommended hanging/installation procedures
  • Whether hanging/installation hardware is included

NOTE: a description should be written in English, and don’t forget to check spelling and grammar.

Log in to your dashboard and navigate to the ‘Products’ section. Click on ‘Add Products’ located at the top right corner to begin adding your artwork. Start by entering the name of your artwork in the ‘Product Name’ section. In the ‘Product Data’ section, choose ‘Simple Product’ and set your artwork’s price in USD. Below this, you have two options for pricing in Qatari Riyal: calculate by the exchange rate or set the price manually.

Continuing in the ‘Product Data’ section, find ‘Inventory’. Here, assign a unique artwork code and, if your artwork is one-of-a-kind, enable ‘Track stock quantity’ and set the quantity to one. Scroll down to ‘Main Product Image’ to upload your artwork’s primary image. For additional images showing different angles, use the ‘Image Gallery’ section.

Next, select the appropriate category for your artwork from the dropdown menu in the ‘Category’ section.

Scroll further to the ‘Filterable Product Fields’ section. This area contains 16 fields to provide detailed information about your artwork. These fields include Primary Colors, Original Artwork Year, Originality, Price Range, Subjects, Styles, Mediums, Materials, Size (Height, Width, Depth in cm), Orientation, Frame, Ready to Hang, Ships From, and Packaging. Each field has a dropdown menu for easy selection.

Finally, at the bottom, you’ll find ‘Short Description’. Use this field to describe your artwork compellingly, highlighting its unique value.

Once you’ve completed all sections, scroll back to the top. You can either save your entry as a draft to continue editing later or click ‘Send New Product for Review’. This will submit your information for our admin team’s review and potential publication.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out through our ‘Contact Us‘ page for assistance.

The Singular Beauty of One-of-a-Kind

In the realm of creativity, your one-of-a-kind artworks are like stars in the night sky—unique, irreplaceable, and infinitely valuable. At artQart, we celebrate this exclusivity and ensure each piece finds its destined collector without the possibility of duplication.

The Importance of Inventory Precision

When you list your artwork, setting the inventory level is a crucial step that safeguards the uniqueness of your creations. For those singular masterpieces that stand alone in the world, it’s important to specify that only one exists—because true originality can never be replicated.

Setting Your Inventory Level

Here’s how to ensure your artwork is as unique in our system as it is in reality:

  1. Navigate to Product Data: Within the ‘General’ tab, you’ll find the key to managing your artwork’s availability.
  2. Inventory Management: Click on the ‘Inventory’ section and you’ll see a magical checkbox—’Track stock quantity for this product’.
  3. Quantity: By default, the quantity is set to one, because artQart knows the value of the individual. Confirm that ‘1’ is in the box to signify that only one of this artwork is available for the world to treasure.
  4. Continue Listing: With the inventory accurately set, you can proceed to infuse your listing with more details about your artwork.

Remember, by setting the inventory level to one, you’re not just listing an item—you’re promising an exclusive piece of your artistic journey. It’s a pledge that this particular artwork will only grace one home, one life, one story.

ArtQart’s Commitment

We’re here to honor the singularity of your work, ensuring that when it’s sold, it’s celebrated as the solitary gem it truly is. Welcome to artQart, where every brushstroke counts, every sale is singular, and every artist is valued.

Profile Optimization Tips

At artQart, we aim to streamline your social media marketing efforts, allowing you to concentrate on what truly matters: creating art. Here are some key points to consider:

Choosing Your Social Media Platform

Selecting the right platform for promoting your artwork is a personal choice. Consider these factors:

  • Which platforms are you already familiar with?
  • Where do you have an existing follower base?
  • Which platforms are your target audience and other successful artists using?
  • How much time can you dedicate to creating and posting content?

Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok are excellent for art marketing.

Account Types: Personal, Creator, or Business

  • To access analytics such as optimal posting times and follower demographics, switch to a creator or business account on platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok.

Instagram

  • Choose between a business or creator account based on your goals. Business accounts are great for scheduling posts, while creator accounts offer access to a broader range of music for Reels.

TikTok

  • Similar to Instagram, TikTok offers business and creator accounts, with creator accounts providing unique monetization options.

What to Post

Each social media platform favors different content styles:

  • POV Shots: Showcase wide angles of your studio or workspace, art reveals, or you at work.
  • Close-Ups: Highlight textures, tools, and materials.
  • Process/Artwork Shots: Share timelapses, studio walkthroughs, and finished pieces.

When to Post

  • Peak Activity: Post when your followers are most active.
  • Consistency: Stick to a regular posting schedule.
  • Engagement: Be active on your chosen platforms to increase visibility.

Social Media Links & Product Tagging

  • Instagram Bio: Use a single link to direct followers to your artQart profile or specific artworks.
  • Captions: Include calls to action (CTAs) encouraging followers to visit your artQart profile.
  • Stories: Share new artworks with links to your artQart product pages.
  • Product Tagging: Tag artworks available on artQart in your posts and Reels.

Facebook & Twitter

  • Auto-Populating Links: Share links from your artQart profile that automatically open in apps, and add engaging CTAs.

By following these tips, you can effectively use social media to enhance your presence and attract more viewers to your artQart profile.

Enhance your online presence and reach a wider audience through these promotional strategies:

Tip #1 – Social Media

Social media is an invaluable tool for increasing the visibility of your artwork, building engaged communities, and connecting with both existing and potential customers. For more detailed guidance, refer to our Social Media Marketing section.

Add your social media handles (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, TikTok, Instagram) to your artQart profile. This allows our Curatorial and Marketing Teams to gain deeper insight into your style. Our Marketing Team actively promotes artists to our extensive follower base and often features those who are active on social media. We’ll ensure to tag and mention you on the platforms you provide.

Tip #2 – Email Marketing Newsletters

artQart Button

In your newsletters, include a button or link directing readers to your artQart Profile. This button can be placed in the header or footer, alongside your social media links, acting as a reminder for subscribers to follow your artQart journey.

Link Products

Easily add images of your artworks for sale in your newsletter, linking them to their respective artQart product pages. Use compelling calls to action like “Shop Now” or “Discover Art” to indicate that these images lead to purchasable artwork. For platform-specific instructions on adding links, consult the FAQ section of your email marketing service.

artQart Marketing

Take advantage of artQart’s feature for artists to showcase specific artworks in the ‘artQart Featured Collections’ section. This targeted advertisement option enhances the visibility of your work, attracting more potential buyers and collectors.

Leveraging these strategies can significantly boost the exposure and appeal of your artwork on artQart.

Venture into ‘Settings’ and proceed to ‘SEO Settings’. This section is dedicated to your Store SEO, where you have the opportunity to enhance your artwork’s online visibility. Fill in the following:

  • SEO Title
  • Meta Description
  • Meta Keywords

Why are Keywords Important?

Keywords play a crucial role in boosting the visibility of your artwork, both within artQart and on external search engines like Google. Think of them as the bridge that connects potential collectors to your work. When used effectively, they not only aid in making your artwork discoverable but also enhance its appeal to those searching for specific art elements.

Crafting Effective Keywords

When selecting keywords, focus on aspects like the subject, predominant colors, mood, style, and any artists who may have inspired your creation. Consider also any unique or distinctive features of your artwork. Remember, the length of your keywords is not as important as their relevance and precision. Whether a single word or a short phrase, each keyword should accurately represent a key aspect of your artwork.

The Power of Accuracy

By emphasizing accuracy in your keywords, you’re not just casting a wide net; you’re using a targeted approach to attract the right audience. This strategic alignment ensures that your artwork appears in searches by collectors who are genuinely interested in the specific qualities of your work.

In short, well-chosen keywords help your artwork stand out in a crowded digital landscape, making it easier for art lovers to discover and connect with your creations.

To enhance your success and visibility on artQart, follow these key tips:

Tip #1 – Upload High-Quality and Accurate Photographs of Your Artwork

Capturing your artwork accurately is crucial since online viewers can’t see it in person. Use a digital camera for the best results. Ensure that the dimensions listed are correct, and crop the photo to exclude any background elements. This accuracy is vital for features like our augmented reality tool, which helps collectors visualize the artwork in their space.

Tip #2 – Craft a Detailed Artist Bio and Artwork Descriptions

Your story is as important as your art. A compelling bio and artwork descriptions can significantly enhance your profile. Include details about your background, influences, techniques, education, collaborations, awards, exhibitions, and where your work is collected. These elements help curators and marketing professionals promote your work effectively.

Tip #3 – Keep Your Portfolio Updated

Regularly update your portfolio, especially if a piece is sold elsewhere. This keeps potential buyers informed about what’s available and showcases your most recent work. Accurate listings are crucial for buyer confidence.

Tip #4 – Price Your Artwork Appropriately

Your artwork’s price should reflect its value accurately. Establish a consistent, fact-based pricing strategy. Being able to explain your pricing to potential buyers adds credibility to your work.

Tip #5 – Accurately Estimate Shipping Dimensions and Weight

Provide precise estimates for the packaged weight and dimensions of your artwork. This information is critical for calculating shipping costs, a key factor in a buyer’s decision-making process. Accurate estimates prevent potential issues with shipping and customer satisfaction.

Tip #6 – Promote Yourself!

Leverage social media, your website, and email marketing to promote your artQart portfolio. Regularly post about new artworks and engage with your followers. A strong online presence drives traffic to your portfolio and increases sales opportunities.

Remember, every artist on artQart has the chance to be featured by our curation and marketing teams. Keeping an informative, up-to-date profile and actively promoting your work will enhance your visibility and attract potential customers.

Packaging & Shipping Responsibilities

Whether it’s a petite paper artwork or a sizable sculpture, please refer to our packaging guidelines booklet attached to this article. Adhering to these guidelines is crucial for our shipping insurance to be valid. In cases where artworks are damaged upon delivery, any deviation from these guidelines could invalidate your sale. Packaging precision is key.

Paintings

Here’s how to package your paintings:

  • Paintings smaller than 122 cm x 122 cm
  • Paintings larger than 122 cm x 122 cm
  • Framed paintings
  • Rolled canvas paintings

For detailed instructions, please download our complete Packaging Guidelines at the bottom of this article.

Important: Always ensure your painting is dry before shipping. Research the correct drying time for your specific materials, as our insurance does not cover damage due to wet paint.

Paintings Smaller Than 122 cm x 122 cm

What you’ll need: Glassine paper or acid-free archival tissue paper, plastic sheeting or heavy plastic bag, bubble wrap, foam board or two-ply cardboard, packing tape, cardboard corner protectors, and a cardboard box.

  1. Wrap the Painting: Use glassine paper or acid-free tissue paper. Wear gloves or use tissue paper to avoid direct contact with the artwork.

  2. Protect the Corners: Fold 20 cm x 20 cm squares of paper into triangle pockets and place them on each corner.

  3. Secure Backing: Tape the wrapped painting to foam board or cardboard of the same size for firm backing.

  4. Moisture Protection: Wrap in plastic sheeting or a heavy plastic bag and seal.

  5. Bubble Wrap: Wrap with two layers of bubble wrap.

  6. Final Packing: Place in a cardboard box with corner protectors and fill extra space with bubble wrap or paper. Seal using the H-taping method.

  7. Labeling: Attach the shipping label and mark the box as “FRAGILE”.

Paintings Larger Than 122 cm x 122 cm

These require packaging in a wooden crate. Follow the same initial steps as for smaller paintings, then place the wrapped painting in a custom-made wooden crate.

Framed Paintings

You’ll need similar materials as above, with the addition of painters tape for glass frames and a wooden crate for artwork larger than 45 cm x 60 cm.

Follow the steps for smaller paintings, with extra care for the glass. Larger framed paintings should be crated.

Rolled Canvas Paintings

For paintings up to 183 cm x 183 cm, roll and ship in a heavy-duty mailing tube. Ensure the painting is dry, then roll it between layers of glassine paper and bubble wrap. Secure in a mailing tube and label as “FRAGILE”.

Flat Artworks

These include drawings, photographs, and collages. Follow similar steps to those for paintings, adjusting the size of the materials accordingly. Larger artworks over 122 cm x 122 cm should be crated.

Sculptures

The approach varies depending on the sculpture’s size and material. Use bubble wrap, packing tape, shredded paper, and either a sturdy cardboard box (for smaller pieces) or a wooden crate (for larger or heavier pieces). Ensure adequate padding and mark the crate or box as “FRAGILE”.

Crates

For larger or fragile artworks, use a custom crate. You’ll need plywood, wood screws, foam board, and a drill. Measure your artwork, build a frame, line it with foam board, and securely encase your artwork. Label as “FRAGILE” and mark the removable lid for ease of opening.

Tip: For easier transport, attach a handle to the crate.

Download our complete Packaging Guidelines at the article’s end for more information, including common causes of artwork damage and additional resources.

When you’re preparing your artwork for shipping, you must include a Certificate of Authenticity inside the package to be sent to the collector who has purchased the work. This is a standard gallery practice and in most cases a very important accompanying document that the collector is expecting to receive.

You’ll be provided with our template, which you’re welcome to use if you are not familiar with how to create your own. The template can be found inside the Artist Handbook section located inside your Vendor Dashboard. We’ve also included the template attached to the bottom of this article for you to download and save to your computer, if you wish.
