Abstract calligraphic work in mixed media using calligraphic form in the asemic writing style. This abstract “text” mirrors sacred Islamic calligraphy and the Al Hurufiya school as well as the contemporary Asemic Writing movement. The subject matter being explored is a metagraphical landscape questioning the role of writing and spirituality in human perception – hence the drop of water unbound by its container kept perfectly in its form – what the Sufis call the Saqi – the bearer of drink or in Postmodernism the CHora – the container of text of the body of life. In other words a metaphor for Divinity and therefore for the role of Islamic calligraphy in the history of humanity as a meeting of art and science.
